Session 5 · Homework · October 18 to 24
Update your CV, then ask it what it dressed up
Your CV, what it added, and what you removed.
On Saturday, ChatGPT wrote a one-page CV for Maman Grâce, a fictional character, from her messy notes. Then it explained what it wrote, asked its questions, and corrected the CV. The workshop did not happen in class: this week, it is your CV.
Get your notes, or your CV, ready
A CV, even an old one, or a few lines: your jobs with the years, what you did there, your diplomas and training, your languages. Remove your address, phone number and email: the AI will write [to complete]. Never a social security number.
Have the CV written, for one specific job
A new chat, temporary if you can, then 5.1 with your notes and the job posting in place of the brackets. No posting? Describe the job you want in one sentence.
Here are my notes for my CV: [paste your notes: your jobs with the years, what you did there, your diplomas and training, your languages]. From these notes, write me a one-page CV, in [language], for this job: [paste the posting or describe the job]. Keep my words where you can. Do not invent any diploma, date or number. For my phone and email, write [to complete].
Ask what it added, then the fix
In the same chat, right after the CV. Read its list: what it added, changed or dressed up.
Compare this CV with my notes. List everything you added, changed or dressed up that I did not tell you: diplomas, dates, numbers, language level, duties.
Then the fix:
Remove everything I did not tell you. Where information is missing, write [to complete]. Change nothing else.
Reread it yourself, four things
What AI says about its own work is not proof. Compare the CV with your notes, line by line:
- 1
Diplomas and titles: do I really hold this diploma, certificate, title?
- 2
Dates: are these my years?
- 3
Numbers: where does this number come from?
- 4
Languages and duties: is this my real level, my real role?
Health, money, law, papers
AI helps you understand. It does not replace the doctor, the lawyer or the certified translator. A work permit, a visa, a diploma to have recognised: to decide, a qualified person confirms.
Nothing from your CV in the group: the kind of job, and one thing you removed.
No CV? Or a longer document?
Notes from a church, association or work meeting: 5.4 turns them into a one-page report. A cover letter or a long report: 5.2 gives you the outline first, you fix it, then it writes one section at a time.
The four Session 5 promptsTell the group
One line is enough: the kind of job, and one thing you removed ("a diploma", "a number"). Never the text of your CV.
